Sam's Place is a cafe that serves lunch fare such as soups, sandwiches, and bowls, but also operates a full espresso bar menu that you would find at any coffee shop. Our soups, breads, sauces, and spreads are made from scratch and we try to source local and fair trade wherever we can. In the summer we also have our own garden, where we grow our own vegetables and fruits. We also offer a rotating menu of baking. Sam's Place is a social enterprise of Mennonite Central Committee Manitoba, so it also specializes in traditional Mennonite dishes such as borscht, meat buns, platz, and faspa. The cool part about Sam's Place is that being a social enterprise we run an Employable Skills Program for youth and young adults who are facing barriers to the work force. They come to Sam's Place as volunteers and program participants, and we teach them all the skills you would need to work in the food service or retail industry. We are currently only open days, but pre-covid we were open Thursday to Saturday evening for events and performances as we also have a stage.
